Whether you're going through the immigration process yourself or supporting a client, delays can be frustrating. They can add stress to an already emotional process, particularly when families are eager to be reunited.
Many delays can be prevented with the right preparation and support. In this blog, we explain the most common causes of delays, how Cellmark works to reduce them, and the simple steps applicants can take to avoid hold-ups.
How we avoid delays:
Purpose-Designed Sampling Cards
We use FTA (an acronym for Fast Technology for Analysis of nucleic acids) cards to collect DNA samples. These are chemically treated filter papers used to collect and preserve biological samples for DNA analysis. They are easy to transport because they do not need to be stored at a specific temperature, making them the perfect choice for DNA samples coming from anywhere in the world.
Tamper Proof Packaging
Once the sample is taken and the paperwork is filled in, the sampler will seal this in a tamper evident bag to preserve the integrity of the chain of custody while the sample makes its way back to us at the laboratory for testing.
Sampling Options
We have access to samplers in over 60 countries so there is usually an option to suit you. We provide everything they need to take the sample, including any paperwork needed for the process. Many locations hold a stock of Cellmark sampling kits to remove the delay associated with sending sampling kits out to your location. In the UK we have a list of GP’s that sample in the area we also have an independent sampling service that can visit the home of your donor, or your office, depending on what is easier for you.
Times of Conflict
Sometimes issues arise when it takes longer to get the samples back from countries where there is a conflict or issues at a border. If this happens, we remain in touch with the samplers to get updates and as soon as we have an answer we will let you know.
How you can help:
Registration Forms
Once you have filled in the details of your case, either online or by providing them over the phone, you will be sent the registration details. It is important to check these carefully to avoid discrepancies once the samples have arrived so we can proceed with testing immediately.
Stay in Touch
Should we need any further information or spot an issue that could affect your case, we'll get in touch by email or phone. Keeping your contact details up to date and responding promptly can help keep your DNA testing process moving smoothly.
At Cellmark, we're committed to making Immigration DNA Testing as straightforward and efficient as possible. You can get a quote below and rely on expert support every step of the way.
