Cellmark has developed a panel system of hair drug testing to enable our customers to identify drug usage simply and easily.
Panel A includes the following common ‘drugs of abuse’:
Amphetamine and Methamphetamines - including the ‘Ecstasy’ drug MDMA.
Opiates - including markers of heroin use.
Cocaine – including markers to indicate the use of ‘crack’ cocaine and the concurrent use of cocaine and alcohol.
Benzodiazepines - specifically Diazepam, Desmethyldiazepam (Nordiazepam), Temazepam, Oxazepam and Chlordiazepoxide.
NEW! We now offer a standalone test for cocaine – including markers to indicate the use of ‘crack’ cocaine and the concurrent use of cocaine and alcohol.
Panel B. Our Supplementary Drugs of Abuse panel includes LSD, Ketamine and Phencyclidine (PCP).
Cannabis: Whilst Cannabis is the most commonly used drug of abuse it is especialy difficult to detect accurately. We have developed a very specific test for Cannabis and its metabolites and this test can be selected in conjunction with either of our panels or as a stand alone test.
Simply select the type of hair to be sampled (head/body) and the drug panel/s required. If you require analysis of a drug that is not listed, please call Customer Services Drug testing team on 0800 043 4247 to discuss.
One or more sections of head hair can be analysed, dependent upon the length of the sample available at the time of collection, and each section can be up to a maximum of 3 centimetres (cm) in length. 1 cm of head hair represents approximately one month of growth so a 3 cm sample could show either an overall picture for the past 3 months or month by month pattern (in 1cm sections) of drug usage.
A body hair sample can be used if there is little or no head hair available; however, due to the growth patterns of body hair, only an “overview” analysis can be performed using the whole length of sample collected and establishing a “pattern” of use is not possible.
Cellmark offers an equally simple alcohol testing service to test for "chronic excessive alcohol consumption". As a minimum we recommend our standard package which includes both hair and blood sample testing.
EtG/FAEE tests measure the levels of ethyl glucuronide (EtG) and four fatty acid ethyl esters (FAEEs) in hair to aid in the evaluation of "chronic excessive alcohol consumption". This can only be carried out on head hair and we require a sample with a minimum length of 3cm. If both drugs and alcohol testing are requested, a further sample again minimum length 3cm is needed due to the different analytical techniques carried out in the laboratory for these tests.
LFT/CDT blood testing - The Liver Function Test (LF) analyses the levels of a number of enzymes produced in the Liver. The Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin (CDT) test is used to identify alcohol usage over a shorter period of time than the LF test.
In our enhanced package we offer an additional service covering the detection of EtG and ethyl sulphate (EtS) in urine. This test offers greater sensitivity and accuracy for determination of recent (in the previous 48 hours) alcohol consumption.
We strongly recommend that hair, blood and urine tests are used in conjunction for the assessment of "chronic excessive alcohol consumption" - our trained samplers are able to collect all sample types at the same appointment.
